Pakistan Railways lowers tariffs to reimburse customers for lower fuel prices

Pakistan Railways has proposed a tariff decrease to help those affected by inflation following a recent decline in the price of fuel and diesel.

Revisions to train tariffs covering a range of distances, from one kilometre to two hundred kilometres, were announced by the railway authority.

The reduction in economy class rates is up to 54%, while the reduction in AC air-conditioned class fares is 40%. The minimum economy class cost on the Lahore to Rawalpindi route has been reduced from Rs 250 to Rs 100.

The announcement of the new rates followed a reduction in fuel prices on May 15, when the price of a litre of diesel was reduced by Rs 7.88.
