Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf wining GB elections but failed to win outright majority

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has held up the winning title of majority seats in the Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly elections but couldn’t secure the winning title of an outright majority.

Based on the unofficial and unconfirmed results, in the Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly elections held on Sunday, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) won nine seats while PPP secured four seats, PML-N got their hands on two seats, whereas MWM got only one seat and seven seats went to the independent candidates.

Polling which initiated at 8am in the morning and it continued till 5pm continually. Initially there was a total of 24 seats for the elections but polling on one seat was stopped for now which led to the total number of seats to 23 seats. The total number of candidates who participated in the elections contest were 330 out of which four were women.

Elections were postponed in GBLA-3 after the death of Jaffer Shah; Pakistan Tekreek-e-Insaaf GB President retired Justice due to covid-19. Around 1,26,997 fresh voters have also utilized right of vote in general elections of GB.
