Sahir Shamshad Mirza paid an official visit to Turkey where he met with Turkish Defense Minister General Retired Yasser Guler and Commander-in-Chief General Mitan Gorak.
According to the Public Relations Department of the Pakistan Army (ISPR), General Sahir Shamshad Mirza also met with Commander Turkish Land Forces General Seljuk Bayraktar Oglu, Commander Turkish Naval Forces Admiral Erkomman Tatli Oglu and Commander Turkish Air Force General Zia Kemal Kadeoglu. During the meetings, issues of mutual interest, various sectors, bilateral defense cooperation were discussed. Security, counter-terrorism and the current regional environment were also discussed.
According to ISPR, the military leadership of the two countries expressed their determination to increase defense cooperation, and also reiterated their determination to further strengthen brotherly relations.
General Sahir Shamshad Mirza was also awarded the “Legion of Merit” in recognition of his outstanding services.
