At the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore last night, Pakistan defeated Bangladesh by seven wickets in the opening match of the Super Fours round of the Asia Cup 2023.

Imam-ul-Haq garnered attention for his calm innings of 78 runs off 84 balls, which included nine boundaries and helped the home team chase down 194 runs.

He formed a valuable partnership with Mohammad Rizwan that started at a slightly precarious 74-2. A 85-run stand was pieced together by them.

First-innings batsmen Bangladesh struggled to put up a challenging score for the Green Shirts, scoring only 193 runs in 38.4 overs against a strong Pakistani bowling attack.

The top scorers for Bangladesh were Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al-Hasan, who each scored 64 and 53 runs, while Haris Rauf claimed four wickets for Pakistan.

Pakistan’s response saw them lose early wickets as well. Imam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Rizwan, on the other hand, did a fantastic job of chasing down the target with 63 balls to spare.
