In collaboration with the telecommunications industry, the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) has begun the development of Pakistan’s first 5G Innovation Lab, a research platform.
The lab will investigate the use of 5G from a socioeconomic standpoint in order to address issues in education, health, mobility, and business.
The Innovation Lab will be established by NUST in association with Jazz and Huawei Technologies, according to reports. Academics will be able to study the use of 5G in artificial intelligence (AI), augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and other fields through the research project.
Mohsin Mushtaq, Federal Secretary for Information Technology and Telecom, laid the groundwork for the research lab, saying that it will help us develop an environment to study the use of 5G in various fields.
During the ceremony, speakers emphasised that, unlike 4G, which is only used for calls and the internet, 5G will be used to accelerate the digitization of other industries.
Kaan Terzioglu, CEO of VEON Group, stated in his address that exploring avenues where 5G can be integrated in the future is important.
