Pakistan’s passport system is down, then back up after a short break.

Pakistani nationals may now breathe a sigh of relief as passport services have resumed following a brief stoppage.

A problem in the citizen data service was the reason for the gap that kept residents in the dark.

Confused residents in Islamabad’s Executive Passport Office saw the phrase, “Citizen data service is available; please check connection with service,” displayed on displays.

The suspension of passport services exacerbated the difficulties passport offices were already facing in managing an influx of applications.

The production of passports was recently put on hold nationally due to a lamination paper shortage that these offices were experiencing.

The state of affairs continued for a week until enough lamination paper could be obtained to enable passport printing to resume.

Now that passport services are resumed, those who were facing severe challenges as a result of the unexpected stoppage may exhale with relief.

This situation emphasises how crucial it is to solve logistical issues with government services in order to guarantee the seamless operation of crucial procedures for citizens.
