Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who is now serving as chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), visited the Pakistan Army’s Kakul training camp on Monday, where the army provides training to players who represent Pakistan in cricket.
“PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi visited Kakul in Abbottabad today to personally observe the ongoing fitness camp being conducted by trainers from the Pakistan Army for Pakistan’s T20 players,” reads a news statement from the PCB. The purpose of the visit was to get personal knowledge of the training camp and to express appreciation to the Pakistan Army for their indispensable assistance in setting everything up.
“The physical capabilities of Pakistan’s T20 players have improved thanks to the fitness camp, and they will be in top shape for their next cricket assignments, which also include the ICC T20 World Cup in June of this year.
“The chairman also had a chance to speak with the players and gave them individual praise for their commitment and engaged involvement in the training. He was pleased with the athletes’ zeal and dedication to improving their level of fitness.
“In addition to meeting with the players, Chairman PCB also conducted a meeting with the selection committee to deliberate over the team’s selection ahead of the New Zealand T20I series. Captain Babar Azam also attended the conference. Additionally, Chairman PCB gave the members confidence in the board’s progress in appointing a head coach.
“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Pakistan Army for their support of our cricket players,” said PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi. Their cooperation will help our athletes become more disciplined going forward, in addition to improving their level of fitness.
“The players will undoubtedly benefit from this camp as they prepare for a demanding trip that ends with a world competition in the USA and the West Indies.
“The PCB is committed to offering its players complete support and supplying them with the resources and tools they need to succeed on a global scale.”
