According to reports, Rashid Latif, a former wicketkeeper-batsman and captain of the Pakistan cricket team, is a candidate for chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Local media state that Rashid Latif is one of the candidates running for PCB chairman.

Zaka Ashraf tendered his resignation as the PCB Management Committee’s chairman during today’s meeting. He informed Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, the caretaker prime minister, of his decision to resign as chairman and member of the MC.

In his parting speech, he wished Pakistan cricket the best of luck and thanked the PCB patron for believing in him.

According to reports, Shah Khawar, the Chief Election Commissioner, may assume temporary control of the PCB prior to the 2018 elections. Najam Sethi, Rashid Latif, Mustafa Ramday, and Ahmad Nawaz Sukhera are other formidable contenders for the chairmanship.

On July 6, Ashraf became a member of the PCB Board of Governors and took over as Chairman, succeeding Najam Sethi in that capacity.

He said in the committee meeting, “I was working for the betterment of cricket, but we can’t work in this way.”

“Whoever Prime Minister [Kakar] nominates will take my place,” he said.

The Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination requested that the PCB Management Committee meeting in Karachi be postponed earlier this week. Other items on the agenda included the establishment of the Board of Governors.

The Ashraf-led Management Committee’s tenure was scheduled to expire in the first week of February 2023, but Kakar had extended it for three months in November 2023.
