Recently PEMRA has been taking actions against the drama serials that are showing morally, socially wrong and negative content. The latest dramas that were banned by PEMRA are Pyar kay sadqay and Ishqiya for portraying negative moral values.
Now they have banned ARY’s drama Jalan as well starring Minal khan and Emmad Irfani.
Jalan started to air on tv on 17th June 2020 but as soon as it started, public was not very happy with the plot of the drama.
PEMRA received numerous complaints regarding the content of this drama thought different platforms. The main reason this drama caused such a spark of anger in public is the portrayal of extramarital affair of a man and his sister-in-law.
PEMRA had asked ARY multiple times to review the content of the drama but the channel didn’t do asked. Hence the final decision of banning the drama was taken then.
The statement byPEMRA read: “Viewers are registering their complaints in this regard on the citizens portal and to Pemra via the authority’s social media accounts and its call center.
As there was no improvement in the script of the dramas by the channels, a final instruction was given to the channels on August 18 to produce the content of the dramas in accordance with the values of Pakistan”
