PIA will be terminating more than 3000 employees to bring down deficit

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) yesterday decided to terminate around 3500 workers in order to bring down its deficit and limit its expenditures.

Reportedly, voluntary separation scheme (VSS) has been presented based on which, the dismissed employees will receive their payments in 2.5 years.

The organization also requires Rs12.87 billion from federal government regarding the matter. According to the administration, this method will save up to Rs4.20 billion every year.

Other than this, PIA has declared Umrah policy for flights from Pakistan to Jeddah and Madinah, which will continue till the end of the year i.e. December 31, 2020.

The maximum luggage weight limit in the two destinations i.e. Jeddah and Madinah will be 36kg while executive economy class passengers will be permitted to carry a total of luggage of two bags at upto 40 kg. Extra luggage of 10 kg will also be acceptable in case of babies.
