The Pakistan Super League (PSL) Eliminator 1 between Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators is scheduled to take place on Friday at Karachi’s National Bank Cricket Stadium.
After barely surviving the league stage, both clubs now have a critical task to complete in order to maintain their prospects of winning the PSL 2024: winning this elimination match. The victor will face off against Peshawar Zalmi the next day.
United defeated the Multan Sultans, who were atop the table, in a thrilling victory that concluded their league stage campaign.
The United team defeated a challenging target of 229 runs in Rawalpindi in an exciting match.
The dynamic opening pair of Islamabad, Colin Munro (84) and captain Shadab Khan (54), contributed significantly even though their bowlers gave up a large amount of runs. They set the tone for a successful chase, which was eventually sealed by lower-order batsmen Faheem Ashraf (23) and Imad Wasim (30*).
Conversely, the Gladiators were defeated by 79 runs as a result of their inability to contend with the Sultans. Under Rilee Rossouw’s leadership, neither their bowling nor their batting were able to survive the opposition’s assault.
With the exception of batsman Omair Yousuf (37) and left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein (0/26), the Gladiators were unable to identify any highlights from the game. If they want to win this important knockout encounter against Islamabad, they need to turn things around.
