Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz left for Geneva, Switzerland, on a special Pakistan Air Force plane from Lahore.
She is accompanied by Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb and her personal staff. Originally scheduled to travel to London, Maryam Nawaz’s plan changed, under which she will land directly in Geneva, where she is expected to undergo a medical check-up.
Maryam will get her throat checked, and after completing her treatment, return to London with her father, Nawaz Sharif.
Tight security surrounded her departure from Lahore, with police escorting her from her residence in Jati Umrah to the airport. Party sources confirmed that last night, Maryam Nawaz, along with minister Marriyum Aurangzeb and her personal staff, departed from Lahore by a special aircraft of the Pakistan Air Force.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif has already reached Geneva from London, where he will spend around four days with Maryam Nawaz. According to insiders, following their stay in Geneva, Nawaz Sharif will return to London.
On Wednesday, Senior Punjab Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb held a press conference, informing the public that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s health had deteriorated on Monday night. Aurangzeb shared that Nawaz, who had undergone thyroid surgery last year, has been experiencing complications related to her previous surgery.
“Maryam Nawaz has been working for eight months. She was admitted to the hospital due to deterioration of her health,” Aurangzeb explained.
The minister said that due to her health condition, Maryam Nawaz will be travelling to Geneva later tonight for immediate treatment under the care of her surgeon, who is based in the Swiss city. Aurangzeb claimed that the CM’s doctor had called her in urgently and recommended that she seek medical attention immediately.
Maryam Nawaz is expected to return to Pakistan by November 12.
