The annual summer break for public and private schools in Punjab was declared by the provincial government on Friday.

According to the statement, schools in the province will observe a summer break from June 1 to August 14.

Due to the extreme temperatures that are being reported in several places around the nation, the Punjabi government has also shortened the hours of instruction.

Monday through Thursday, the schools will be open from 7 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.; on Fridays, they will open at 7 a.m. and conclude at 10:30 a.m.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, heatwave conditions are expected to develop across much of the nation starting on May 21 due to the existence of high pressure in the upper atmosphere, particularly over Punjab and Sindh.

It was also said that from May 23 to May 27, there would probably be a strong heatwave.

In Punjab, daytime highs are expected to be 4–6°C above average from May 21–23 and 6–8°C above average from May 23–27.
