For a minimum of thirty days, the Punjabi government has mandated that all school personnel and pupils wear face masks.
The Punjab cabinet met for many hours before making the decision, with temporary Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi serving as chair. In accordance with the rulings of the Lahore High Court (LHC), a pollution emergency was declared for the province at the meeting.
The Punjab administration concluded that extending the extra vacation day would not have much of an impact, despite the alarming amount of pollution. All provincial schools, however, are required to make sure that all of their employees and pupils are wearing face masks.
In addition, the CM has asked everyone to use face masks for a minimum of one month. To ensure that instructions are followed, provincial ministers have been instructed to visit both public and private schools starting today.
Mohsin Naqvi has directed the Lahore Waste Management Company, the Local Government Department, and the commissioner of the Lahore division to take severe action against those who do not wet the materials when erecting a structure.
Furthermore, a Chinese business will establish an air quality monitoring system in Lahore. Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Zhao Shiren, the Chinese consul general in Lahore, met at the CM office and came to an understanding on this matter.
