Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood clarified some significant information regarding the single national curriculum recently. While talking about it, he said that it will bring betterment to the educational standards for Pakistanis all over the country regardless of their socio-economic class.
While giving an interview at Dawn News show “News W!se” where the minister responded to questions related to the government’s single national curriculum, bringing light to the issue that how an upper class was advancing from better educational services in comparison to students of madressahs and public schools who could are not able to afford and compete for these similar opportunities.
Shafqat Mehmood stated that the single national curriculum will prove to be a source of improvement in the educational standards across the country; he further stated that it will eradicate distinctiveness and will focus on bringing fairness in the sense that madressah students and students of leading schools and colleges will avial the similar facilities.
He said: “First of all, our syllabus can be compared with that of any other syllabus around the world,” he said. “We have prepared it keeping in mind modern standards [of education],”
He further added: “This is only the thinking of a particular class here,” he said. “So, the standards [education in Pakistan] will rise, The kids studying in madressahs and those studying in elite schools will have the same educational standards, and those standards will be higher, not lower.”
