Sindh Raises Minimum Wage Salaries

The pay of industry workers have been increased by the Sindh Minimum Wage Board. The chairman of the Sindh Minimum pay Board, Zulfiqar Ali Nizamani, declared that skilled workers will henceforth get a minimum monthly pay of Rs 33,280 in the province, while unskilled workers will receive Rs 32,000. On July 1st, 2023, these updated minimum salaries will go into effect.

Nizamani emphasised that there is a 14-day opportunity for people to express their complaints to the judgement and that factory owners are required to follow these minimum wage standards.

Furthermore, Chairman Nizamani issued a warning that individuals who refuse to pay their employees the required minimum wages will face harsh punishment.

In related news, the Sindh High Court (SHC) has ordered that the minimum wage established by the Sindh government be enforced. A special directive from the SHC bench to the government was to guarantee that sanitation workers receive at least Rs 25,000 per month. The labour department has also been entrusted with gathering reports from several departments for a thorough investigation of the situation.
