As the first Pakistani to ascend 13 of the world’s highest 14 peaks, climber Sirbaz Khan, 32, has etched his name into the annals of history.
After scaling the 8,188-metre-high Cho Oyo mountain in China’s Tibet region, the sixth-highest peak in the world, Khan added another achievement to his resume. He reached the summit without using oxygen, making him the first Pakistani to ascend ten peaks higher than 8,000 metres.
He began his ascent of the mountain from camp I the day before, and on Monday he succeeded in reaching the summit.
The enthusiastic climber is currently working towards climbing the 8,027-metre Shishapangma mountain to finish his ambition to ascend all 14 of the world’s highest summits.
He was the first Pakistani to climb Nepal’s 8,516-metre Mount Everest in 2019, and he did so without taking any additional oxygen.
