The National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) arranged another meeting of all the provincial education ministers just yesterday to reconsider the school reopening modalities within altering COVID-19 circumstances in the country, which the doctors are identifying as the third wave of the novel coronavirus.
The meeting was conducted at the NCOC headquarters in Islamabad with Federal Minister for Education and Professional Trainings, Shafqat Mahmood, leading the meeting.
The decsions that were made during the meeting were announced later, the education minister stressed that there was a sudden rush in COVID contagions but continued that the circumstances are not as alarming as it was in November-December.
Schools, colleges, and universities in Faisalabad, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Gujranwala, Multan, Gujrat, and Sialkot have been given a two week span of spring break to announce closure from Monday till 28th March.
All schools, colleges, and universities will continue to be closed in the stated cities whereas the different day policy i.e. 50% presence will be carried on in Sindh and Balochistan.
The decision to review the matter concerning schools has come just days after the government said that they will now be continuing regular 5-6 days a week classes from the beginning of this month.
