Under the Statistical Officers and Economic Analysts Training Scheme, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has posted job openings for the roles of Economic Analysts and Statistical Officers.
SBP posted job openings on its official website, indicating that it is seeking young, bright, and motivated individuals for the aforementioned roles. Note that the positions are headquartered in Karachi.
Qualification Standards
Master’s, Bachelor’s, or equivalent degree from HEC-recognised Pakistani institutions in Economics for Economic Analysts and Statistics Actuarial Sciences/Data Sciences for Statistical Officers, with 16 years of education and at least 60% of marks when percentages apply, or 2.5 out of 4.0 or 3.5 out of 5.0 when the GPA system is applicable. An HEC equivalency certificate would be necessary in the event of a foreign degree.
Age: Up to 26 years old as of November 12, 2023, the date of the newspaper’s advertising. Candidates who identify as female, transgender, members of underrepresented groups, and those from Northern Areas, Baluchistan, Azad Jammu Kashmir, and Gilgit Baltistan—areas that were formerly a part of FATA—will have their age limit lowered by three years. Employees of SBP and its subsidiaries will have their age limit lowered by five years, provided they meet all other eligibility requirements.
Application and Testing Process: Interested Pakistani nationals who match the aforementioned eligibility requirements, including those from Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, must visit the NTS website at https://www.nts.org.pk.
A statistical officer or an economic analyst will be the two streams from which candidates must select.
Age will be taken into account using the CNIC.
Applications without the necessary data—such as a picture, birthdate, or any other crucial information—will not be considered for further consideration. Applications that do not meet the specifications mentioned in the advertisement will not be considered.
November 27, 2023, is when applications must be submitted. Email applications or those delivered in person won’t be accepted.
In addition to sending admission cards to the shortlisted students’ postal addresses and uploading them to its website, NTS will notify the shortlisted candidates via SMS about the written exam, which will be held at prearranged test locations.
The qualifying applicants’ information will be posted on NTS’s website. Only those who have been shortlisted will be contacted to proceed with the selection process.

The Selection Process
Those who pass the written exam and satisfy the requirements for consideration will be placed on a shortlist and contacted for additional rounds of selection, which will include a panel interview, psychometric testing, and group discussions.
The original, printed copies of their certified academic and professional records, their CNIC, their domicile, and an Equivalency Certificate from HEC (if they have a foreign qualification) must be brought by the selected candidates.
Candidates have received stern warnings not to falsify their age, educational background, or other certifications. Additionally, even if a candidate is otherwise qualified, they will be disqualified from the current and any future recruitment processes at the bank if they mislead, neglect to provide the necessary information or documentation, do not meet the requirements as stated in the advertisement, attempt to influence the recruitment process in any way, or attempt to obtain support for their candidature through inappropriate means.
Prior to induction
Following the fulfilment of all requirements, such as medical and psychological testing and documentation of completed coursework, the chosen applicants will be expected to participate in Applied Focused Theoretical Training (a residential programme) at the National Institute of Banking and Finance (NIBAF), Islamabad, as trainees. The trainees who meet the requirements and successfully finish the programme will be given the opportunity to work at SBP as Economic Analysts and Statistical Officers (OG-2).
Package of Remunerations
A monthly salary of Rs 41,000 would be given to the trainees till they were inducted into the bank.
The trainees would be offered employment as Economic Analyst/Statistical Officers (OG-2) at a combined monthly monetized salary of Rs 82,000, together with additional perks under the OG-2 wage range in accordance with bank regulations, upon successfully completing the programme.
