Ahmed and Anum Uzair, who live in Lahore, are the first Pakistani couple to reach the summit of Mount Manaslu, which is 8,163 metres high and is located in Nepal.
The husband-and-wife team, along with three Sherpas, successfully ascended the summit today, according to climbing business Seven Summit Treks, which organised the ascent.
The couple “have created history” by being the first Pakistani couple to summit the mountain, according to Karrar Haidri, secretary of the Alpine Club of Pakistan, in an interview with Dawn.com.
He stated, “Pakistan is extraordinarily pleased of this amazing achievement by Ahmed and Anum.
Shehroze Kashif, a Pakistani climber who just reached the peak of Manaslu, also offered his congratulations to the pair.
Pakistani climbers Sirbaz Khan and Naila Kiani also succeeded in ascending Manaslu mountain on Thursday.
The two climbers started their effort to reach the summit on Wednesday from camp 3.
With her summit of Manaslu, Kiani had reached the historic feat of becoming the first Pakistani woman to ascend nine of the world’s fourteen highest mountains.
