An official holiday has been declared by the government in observance of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (12th Rabi ul Awwal).
The government has declared September 29 to be a national holiday in honour of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (12th Rabi ul Awwal), according to a notification from the cabinet division.
The Rabi-ul-Awwal moon was not seen, hence the Islamic month will begin on September 18 and Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) will fall on September 29 (Friday), according to Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee Chairman Abdul Khabeer Azad.
Details indicate that the declaration came during a committee meeting presided over by Maulana Azad. Weather scientists and religious intellectuals from various philosophical traditions attended the meeting.
In addition to this, zonal committee meetings were also held in each of the nation’s major cities. The committee evaluated the many moon sighting claims it had gathered from across the nation.
In a post-meeting press conference, Maulana Azad stated, “The committee, with consensus, concluded that the month of Rabi ul Awal will begin on September 18 (Monday).”
The birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), also known as Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH), is commemorated by Muslims worldwide on the 12th of Rabiul Awwal, the third month of the Islamic lunar calendar.
