Two holidays in Sindh have been declared by the provincial administration.
The statement states that in observance of Iqbal Day, November 9 has been formally designated as a public holiday.
In addition, the Hindu community has declared November 13 to be a holiday in honour of Diwali.
According to the announcement, all government offices, corporations, local councils, autonomous and semi-autonomous entities, and government offices under the administrative supervision of the Sindh government would observe a “festival of lights” on Monday, which is an off-day for the Hindu community.
It should be mentioned that just last week, the federal government declared Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal’s 146th birthday to be a national holiday. Iqbal is the nation’s most beloved poet and philosopher.
Before Shehbaz Sharif, the former prime minister, decided to bring back the national holiday on November 9 last year, it had been suspended for a number of years.
