The government extended the deadline for filing income tax returns by 15 days to December 15 on Wednesday.
Finance Minister Ishaq Dar announced the decision to extend the deadline at a press conference. To make the most of this chance, the people were urged by the minister to file their tax returns as soon as possible.
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) announced in a statement that it has extended the deadline for filing returns in accordance with Section 214A of the Income Tax Ordinance 2001.
The minister also announced an extension of the deadline for filing income tax returns until November 30 last month. The minister stated that the decision was made in response to requests from Tax Bar Associations, the business community, and traders to extend the deadline.
The minister then mentioned that various groups had asked for a deadline extension due to the circumstances following the floods.
