An update has been released by the Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP) on Arshad Nadeem, the famous javelin thrower from Pakistan, who was unable to compete at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou because of a persistent knee ailment.
In an attempt to get professional advice on the injuries, AFP has sent his medical papers to Dr. Ali Sher Bajwa, an orthopedic specialist in London, according to a senior official.
The insider went on to say that the famous athlete is scheduled to come to Lahore soon to begin his recuperation.
The official said, “Arshad will join his coach, Salman Butt, in Lahore for light training and recuperation after he returns from his current trip to Bangkok.
At the Asian Games, Arshad Nadeem’s absence was noticeable because Pakistan had a very poor performance, winning just one silver and two bronze medals.
Arshad had to miss his second significant event in a short period of time due to an injury. He had earlier had a right knee injury during the 34th National Games in Quetta back in May, which kept him out of the Asian Championship in Bangkok in August.
Depending on how well Arshad recovers, the AFP wants to send him to Germany for Olympic preparation. His coach has also been informed about his level of fitness by the AFP.
“He has to get well before we can transfer him to Germany. Sending him overseas won’t help if his health prevents him from doing tactics in Germany, an AFP source informed the media.
In recent months, injuries have started to plague Arshad’s career on a regular basis. Even though he battled elbow and knee problems the previous year, he was still able to compete brilliantly in both the Islamic Games in Turkey and the Commonwealth Games in England. He had surgery in London last year for his left knee and right elbow, and he recovered quite well.
