The new head selector for the Pakistani team is Wahab Riaz

Wahab Riaz, the temporary Sports Minister for Punjab and a former pacer, has been named Chief Selector of the Pakistan cricket team.

There are no indications that the events coming from the Lahore headquarters of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will slow down.

The player for Peshawar Zalmi, Wahab Riaz, will be choosing Pakistan’s team for the next Test visit to Australia.

Wahab is still playing cricket for his franchise; therefore, his appointment is unexpected. He took over for Tauseef Ahmed, who was named to the post on an interim basis following Inzamam-ul-Haq’s resignation over a possible conflict of interest.

Even more puzzling is the fact that Wahab is presently Punjab’s temporary sports minister; he may have to leave this position because of the same “conflict of interest.”

In the meantime, Pakistan has also named Mohammad Hafeez as its technical director and head coach, succeeding Mickey Arthur and Grant Bradburn, respectively. After Babar Azam resigned as captain of all three formats, Shaheen will captain the T20I team, while Shan Masood will captain the Test team.
