Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) was reduced in price by Rs20 per kg following the normalisation of ties between Pakistan and Iran.

According to Irfan Khokhar, chairman of the LGP Distributors Association, the price of LPG per kilogramme has dropped from Rs 300 to Rs 280.

In a similar vein, he claimed that the cost of a home 11.8 kg cylinder and a commercial cylinder had dropped by Rs 230 and Rs 900, respectively, and that more price drops for LGP were anticipated.

The freeze in relations between Pakistan and Iran, he claimed, had upset the LPG mafia’s intentions to increase revenues.

On January 29, 2024, Dr. Hossein Amir Abdollahian, the foreign minister of Iran, made a significant trip to Pakistan as Tehran and Islamabad worked to reduce tensions following military actions.

On Sunday night, Abdollahian arrived in Islamabad. The previous day, nine Pakistanis were shot and killed in Sikran, Iran, by unidentified gunmen. A high-level political, military, and security delegation led by a foreign dignitary has arrived at the Nur Khan Air Force Base in the garrison city of Rawalpindi.

The top Iranian members were received by representatives of the Pakistan MoFA and the Iranian ambassador to Pakistan.

The Iranian minister and his entourage will meet with Jalil Abbas Jilani, the Pakistani equivalent, and other high-ranking officials in Islamabad to discuss matters of regional security and other matters.
