According to Aaj News, the Election Amendment Bill 2024 was approved in the Senate meeting yesterday, on which the opposition walked out of the meeting making noise. The opposition members said that the bill was brought to strengthen the unelected people.
Responding to the objection on the Election Amendment Bill in the Senate session, Prime Minister Nazir Tarar clarified on a question about the salaries of judges and members of parliament and there is a huge difference between the salaries of legislators and justices.
Azam Nazir Tarar said that taxes are deducted from the salaries of the members of the assembly, after which each member of the assembly gets a monthly salary of 170 thousand rupees, while the salary of any judge of the High Court or the Supreme Court is not less than 1 million.
He said that if the opposition members have any suggestions, they can be sent to the government, if they want to reduce the salaries of judges, then I will convey this message.
