Reportedly nine officers of Lahore police, along with a station house officer, were fired just yesterday for harassing and unlawfully taking employees of a cafe in custody in Lahore’s DHA area after they denied “free burgers” to the officiers.

A few days ago before the incident, some police officers came to the restaurant ‘Johnny and Jugnu’ situated in DHA Phase-6 and tried to get free burgers. Though, following a denial, the cops went back in anger and came back late on Friday night merely to take in custody the whole staff of the restaurant for causes that the branch described as “baseless and unjust”.

Taking notice of the misuse of authority by the officers, Punjab Inspector General Inam Ghani directed instructions to fire all officials found gulity in the incident, including the SHO of Defence-C Police station, for surpassing their power.

The outlet discussed the incident on social media: “This was not the first time something like this has happened with our kitchen teams at our restaurant, but we want to make sure this is the last. Yesterday night, around 1am our kitchen teams were taken into custody by the Police. 19 of our innocent crew members were kept locked up at the [police] station for the entire night, without any basis, as per orders from their SHO.”
