The Abrahamic Family House, an interfaith building, has been officially opened by the UAE in Abu Dhabi. As symbols of Islam, Christianity, and Judaism, the building includes a mosque, a church, and a synagogue.

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, president of the UAE, declared on Twitter that the nation’s many ethnic groups have a proud history together. He said they are totally committed to exhibiting tolerance, respect, and diversity in order to progress further.

The Abrahamic Family House was influenced by the Human Fraternity Declaration that Pope Francis signed in the United Arab Emirates in February 2019.

The inclusive structure demonstrates how the three Abrahamic religions—Islam, Christianity, and Judaism—all adhere to the same principles. Additionally, it has a center for the culture that promotes respect and peaceful co-existence.

To encourage cooperation between the three religions, the Abrahamic Family House will plan a number of events and programs on a global scale. The building design places more emphasis on the similarities than the differences between the three faiths.

The synagogue will receive a ceremonial delivery of a Torah scroll that President Al Nahyan has gifted in the past. As the Jewish community gathers to invite the scroll, also recognized as the Sefer Torah, the Chief Rabbi, Yehuda Sarna, will lead them in Shabbat prayers.
