There may finally be a new camera design on the Apple iPhone 16

After being the same for multiple generations, the primary camera design on the iPhone 16 could finally change. Apple is anticipated to include a dual-camera sensor in a vertical stack on the iPhone 16, emulating the style of some Samsung phones.

We now have a photograph of what appears to be an iPhone 16 chassis, in addition to the several stories that have previously surfaced about this new primary camera setup. The picture, which depicts the potential appearance of the vertically stacked design, was sent by a tipster on X who goes by the handle “Majin Bu.”

In addition to coming from the X tipster, MacRumors was able to authenticate the information with a number of sources. According to these sources, they verify that this is, in fact, the main camera chassis for the “I-34” camera project, which is intended for the regular iPhone 16 model that is scheduled for delivery in September.

The move to a vertical camera configuration may allow Apple to include the ability to capture spatial video on the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. Rather than an unanticipated appreciation for Samsung’s design choices, this practical improvement is probably what motivated the design shift.

Like the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, the iPhone 16 generation is also anticipated to include an Action Button that can be set up to do many functions, including an alarm slider, a camera shutter button, and more. On the right side of the gadget, there may be a specialised capture button with force-sensor technology integrated into it.

September of this year is anticipated to see the release of the Apple iPhone 16 series, which will include the base iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, and 16 Pro Max models. These phones will also be the first to run the upcoming iOS 18 upgrade, which is anticipated to have generative AI capabilities like those seen in the Google Pixel 8 and Samsung Galaxy S24.
