In terms of gas loadshedding, this winter will be similar to those in the past.
In a news conference, acting Minister of Power and Energy Muhammad Ali revealed that during the winter months there will be 16 hours of gas loadshedding because gas will only be delivered for 8 hours per day.
The minister admitted that there isn’t enough gasoline in the nation to last for a continuous 24 hours. According to Muhammad Ali, Pakistan’s natural gas reserves have shrunk by 18% since last year.
The Minister is optimistic that it will more fully satisfy industrial demand during the month of December as a result of the completion of two LNG shipments.
The Minister stated, “We only have two LNG terminals and a limited amount of natural gas, but today we have finalised two LNG cargoes for December, which would help address the industry’s gas supply difficulties in December.
He claims that so far, during the ongoing crackdown, electrical defaulters have paid back Rs. 16 billion. The Minister also disclosed that all of the electricity distribution companies’ boards of directors (BoDs) would be replaced.
He added that management of all DISCOs would be given to the private sector under a long-term contract.
