PESHAWAR: In the Battagram district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, three of the children who were trapped in the hanging cable car have completed their class 9 exams.

As the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Abbottabad announced the results earlier today, Attaullah son of Kifayatullah received 442 marks, Niaz Mohammad son of Umar Zaib received 412, and Usama son of Muhammad Sharif received 391 numbers. These students were promoted to class 10 as a result.

The group consists of three Government High School Batangi Pashto Alai students.

The rescue operation is successful.

All eight passengers—seven schoolchildren and one local—were successfully saved by the Pakistan Army’s Special Services Group (SSG) after a cable car’s rope snapped in Allai Tehsil, KP.

Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, the acting prime minister, made the following statement on X, formerly known as Twitter: “Relieved to know that Alhamdolillah all the kids have been successfully and safely rescued. Excellent cooperation between the military, rescue teams, district administration, and the locals.

Eight passengers were trapped inside the open cable car for more than 15 hours earlier today after it became stuck halfway across a ravine and was hanging by just one cable after the other broke.

Two of the kids were rescued with the aid of an army helicopter before sundown, but the helicopter operation was cut short due to darkness and bad weather.

Later, the army launched a ground operation under the direction of the general officer commanding (GOC) of SSG to use different methods to rescue the remaining five passengers on the cable car.

To bring the people back and bring them food and water, a smaller-sized cable car was hung on the same cable. The Pakistan Army also requested assistance from a local cable crossings specialist.

According to Shariq Riaz Khattak, a rescue official on the scene, the open cable car became stuck earlier in the morning halfway across a ravine and was hanging by just one cable after the other broke.

Following the incident, SSG soldiers and helicopters from the Pakistan Army Aviation and Pakistan Air Force assisted in the rescue effort.

The rescue effort was challenging because of the strong winds in the area and the potential for further lift instability caused by the helicopter’s rotor blades, according to Khattak.

first account of the incident

According to the initial account of the incident, seven students and one local were riding the cable car to the Batangi Government High School.

The cable car became stranded in midair at around 7:45 am, according to the report, after one of the gondola’s cables broke.

Reaching a height of 6,000 feet, the cable car stops. The lift is jammed up, trapping Abrar, Irfan, Usama, Rizwan Ullah, Ataullah, Niaz Muhammad, Sher Nawaz, and Gul Faraz.

According to the report, the deputy commissioner for Battagram got in touch with the commissioner for Hazara after learning about the incident. The DC requested that a helicopter be set up. Additionally, the Kaghan Valley SSG team was contacted, and the helicopter arrived at the destination at 11:45 a.m. At 2:00 pm, the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) helicopter arrived at the location.

According to the report, the district administration, police, and two rescue teams are currently on the scene. It also stated that the District Headquarter Hospital (DHQ) Battagram has been placed on high alert and that an emergency has been declared at the nearby health centres.

According to Punjab’s DG of Rescue, Dr. Rizwan Naseer, a height rescue team is also on call and prepared to assist.
