Fares have been reduced by the Pakistan International Airlines for the two way routes on Gilgit and Skardu towards Islamabad according the report given to the Gilgit Baltistan Supreme Appellate Court (SAC).

The statement was issued by SAC a few days ago in which it was stated that the general manager (GM) of PIA has told the court that the fares from Gilgil and Skardu has been reduced from both ways i.e. from and to rather than as planned earlier to reduce the fares from one side only.

Earlier, a reduction of Rs. 6,915 was announced by the national airlines. Before this announcement, the passengers traveling to Gilgit and Skardu had to make a payment of 10,000 to 17,000 for ticket fares.

The people from GB showed a bitter reaction when it was announced that the fares will be reduced for one side only rather than both sides as the local their usually travel to other areas as the cold in GB is quite harsh. So the people were expecting a reduction in fares from both sides.

Taking notice of the matter, it was ordered by the SAC to the GM of the airlines to reduce the fares of Gilgil/Skardu-Islamabad routes from both sides.

GB chief justice, Syed Arshad Hussain Shah had requested the GM to sbmit the report by Wednesday last week, which was then submitted to SAC.
