A decrease in the price of gasoline and diesel is anticipated to start on June 1 due to changes in import charges and petrol oil prices.

During the first half of June 2024, it is anticipated that the price of petrol will decrease by Rs4.50 per litre, while the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) will decrease by Rs4 per litre.

The alleviation is anticipated given the recent fall in prices on the world’s oil markets.

While the price of light crude oil on the NYMEX decreased by $0.58 and is presently trading at $79.22, the price of Brent crude oil on the London ICE fell by $0.48 to trade at $83.

If the cut is put into effect, Pakistani residents who have been struggling with high inflation would benefit because rising gasoline prices have a big influence on the cost of commuting.

The new rates will go into effect on June 1, 2024, while the formal announcement of the new pricing is set for midnight on May 31, 2024.

In the latter part of May 2024, the cost of a litre of fuel was Rs 273.93, while the price of a litre of high-octane petrol is around Rs 300.88.
