While addressing the country folks on Thursday, Prime Minister Imran Khan has made the announcement that he will be taking a vote of confidence from the National Assembly to dismiss the conception that his government has lost its popularity in the Lower House.

A meeting of the Parliament has been arranged on Saturday under Article 91(7) of the Constitution in which it is stated:

β€œThe Prime Minister shall hold office during the pleasure of the President, but the President shall not exercise his powers under this clause unless he is satisfied that the Prime Minister does not command the confidence of the majority of the members of the National Assembly, in which case he shall summon the National Assembly and require the Prime Minister to obtain a vote of confidence from the Assembly.”

The constitution gives the elected prime minister the right to reclaim the vote of confidence. The voting will be done by a display of hands.

To acquire the simple majority, PM needs 172 votes from the Lower House. According to the instructions of the National Assembly, next to the beginning of the process of the House, the Speaker of the National Assembly will confirm the presence of the participants by buzzing bells for five minutes, after which all the entries of the House will be shut so that no one could go in or out.
