Recently the tech giant, Facebook announced that they will be retrieving users data from Facebook owned application whatsapp including the user’s location, phone number and model and more to be sent to third parties.
Those who won’t be agreeing to this new privacy policy by the tech giant, will have their whatsapp account deleted by the second week of February.
After this news about the policy came out, users were filled with anger and concern over the matter of their privacy invasion.
After this, the tesla owner and currently the world’s richest man, Elon Musk offered his followers a suggestion that they should go for an alternate option that is signal as it works on the same encrypted message service principles as whatsapp and does not use personal data.
As Elon Musk tweeted, “Use Signal”, there was an official tweet from the messaging platform as well stating: “Neither we can read your messages or listen to your calls, nor anyone else. Privacy is not an optional mode, it is how Signal works. In all your messages, all your calls, forever,”
Following this, there was a sudden increase in the demands of other messaging applications than whatsapp including signal and telegram. There were a huge number of downloads of these apps in the past two days due to privacy concern on whatsapp
