Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S24 Ultra is rumoured to have a flat screen, which is different from the Ultra series but follows a recent trend seen in non-Ultra models.
A new set of information regarding the S24 Ultra’s display has surfaced from the reliable source Ice Universe. Let’s start with the positive since the report discusses both the positive and negative aspects of the flagship phone’s screen.
record-breaking brightness
This leak claims that the S24 Ultra will have a maximum or peak brightness greater than 2,200 nits. There is no denying that this brightness level is exceptional. In order to put things into perspective, the S23 Ultra’s peak brightness is 1,750 nits, which is already very high. This will undoubtedly set new records for brightness.
But there will also be a depressing drawback to the screen.
The bad report
According to information provided by Ice Universe, the S24 Ultra’s bezels are anticipated to have dimensions similar to those of the Galaxy A54, which is quite unattractive on a flagship device. Additionally, as can be seen from the illustration, these bezels will only maintain their symmetry in pairs. The left and right bezels will both be 3.42mm thick, while the top and bottom bezels will be 3mm thick.
Why there isn’t a standard bezel size applied to all sides raises a question. The reasoning is still unclear. This strategy is completely doable, as demonstrated by Apple’s consistent successes, frequently utilising Samsung-made panels.
Furthermore, the recent efforts of Nothing have demonstrated that, provided it is a priority for the manufacturer, achieving complete symmetry in bezel dimensions is possible even at more affordable price ranges.
As a result, the screen-to-body ratio of the S24 Ultra will be an unimpressive 88%, which is regrettable. Since the release of the Galaxy S10 in 2019, this has been the cheapest Samsung flagship model.
